Serious Skin Care Is A Lifestyle
In the words of Confucius “It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop”
I guess we don’t seriously consider skin care until we literally face serious skin conditions. And indeed, serious skin care was not on my schedule for years in a row. And it would have probably stayed that way unless I had to deal with some serious issues.
Trying out every beauty product on the market turned out to be both frustrating and expensive. I realized that the solution was not to jump and grab any product claiming solution to unexpected skin problem as the same skin problems had a way to come back unless the selection was right.
The goal is to have clear and healthy skin and not finding a temporary solution. I stress, serious skin care doesn’t mean working in a single direction with one type of product like organic skin care or mineral skin care. IMO the answer is holistic or universal skin care. This approach has very little to do with “a product”.
Serious skin care entails cosmetics usage and life style that will effect how your skin looks and feels. There is no such thing as skin care without exercise, without a healthy diet and without a good state of mind. And there are reasons for this. Exercise eliminates toxins and keeps every cell in your body in good shape including your skin cells. A healthy diet nurtures your skin with all the necessary elements. And I am sure that you have noticed for yourself happy people have a bright, invigorating skin.
Serious skin care is discipline but that shouldn’t scare you off. Skincare discipline is related to specific habits that we need to adapt to. They are more like rituals. That is how I thought of them and here are few examples; removing makeup, wearing sunscreen, exfoliating our skin etc. No matter how you will end up calling these little activities, they are part of a serious skin care program and you can’t make it without respecting them.
I think serious skin care is a resolve and I realize this is the most difficult part even for me. Somehow I missed out on the obvious, rules are useless if you only follow them every once in a while. That translated into something like this: “I have to remove make up every single night. I have to exfoliate my skin every week. I have to wear sunscreen daily.” And I am sure you see where I’m getting at. I do realize that there are days when you are either tired or plainly lazy that’s when our resolve and commitment is on the test.
I know that actual skin problems may seem more important than a concept. And I am not saying that you should not attend to those issues. What I am trying to pass on to you is this; understanding serious skin care can help you prevent severe skin problems. But it will not be only about cosmetics. It will be a process which necessitates constant, long term effort on your part. The result will entail a healthy looking skin not only today but every day the choice is entirely yours as to how serious you are about serious skin care.
